Volunteers are a vital part of Art on the Square. More than 50 people assist with the creation of the event year round by serving on 22 different working committees and more than 600 volunteers assist with the event production. It is a ton of fun and volunteers meet great people that live in the local community. If you would like to volunteer during the event or year round, please submit your volunteer application today!
Attendance: We depend on your commitment to participate. Your presence and prompt arrival for your scheduled shifts are absolutely necessary. VERY IMPORTANT: If your schedule must change, or if you have an emergency, please contact us immediately!
Volunteer Headquarters: Volunteer Headquarters is located at the former Meredeith Home, 16 South Illinois Street. It is the large five story building with entrance off of South Illinois Street. You must check in and check out at the Volunteer Headquarters at the beginning and end of each shift you work. Please try to arrive 10 to 15 minutes early.
Volunteer Attire: In keeping with the spirit of Art on the Square, we ask all of our volunteers to wear black pants, no shorts, please, and a white top or blouse. This helps our guests and artists recognize our volunteers. Sunscreen and sunglasses are always great to have, too.
Volunteer Parking: Parking can be found in the St. Clair County parking garage or various downtown vendors.
Be Flexible: The Art Fair is an exciting, fast-paced environment where things can change on a dime. It's a huge help to us when volunteers are patient and understand that we may need you to do a different task than you'd been assigned. That being said, we'll do our best to keep you happy and busy!
Have Fun!!! You're helping art thrive in your community - what could be better than that?
