Health & Safety Guidelines

As the 19th annual rescheduled Art on the Square Fine Art Fair is set for October 22nd – 24th, there has been a focus this year on Health and Safety due to the COVID-19 virus.  Art on the Square has been working with local government officials, including the St. Clair County Health Department on providing measures that will promote safety amongst our Artists, Volunteers, Vendors and Visitors.  Some of the changes will be visible, others behind the scenes.

We will also need the community’s help in controlling the spread of the virus.  All are welcome to attend, however we encourage volunteers and guests who are not vaccinated or high-risk to consider their own safety and that of others when choosing to volunteer and/or attend.

Artists – With a reduction in artists, the artists booths will be mainly in groups of 3 booths with adequate spacing in between the groups.  Additionally, all of our artists will be required to supply either proof of vaccination or a recent negative Covid test.

Artist Hospitality – Art on the Square provides it artists with meals during the 3-day show.  We will ensure that all meals are prepackaged and all items in the Hospitality area will be prepacked for artists to grab and go.

Children’s Art Garden – Our children’s area will require masks for all children and we will forgo the face painting and substitute with a Mask decorating project.  All of our activities will feature projects in “kit” form and can be completed either at the show with supervision or at home.

Masks – Volunteers, Artists, Vendors and Attendees that are unvaccinated are asked to wear a mask while outdoors at the show.  Any indoor areas, all (vaccinated and unvaccinated) will be required to wear a mask, unless seated and eating and/or drinking per Illinois State Mandate.

High School Art Competition – This was an indoor venue and also based on the timing of schools return, this event has been cancelled for the October show.

Enhanced Sanitation – We have increased the number of sanitizing stations and they can be found all throughout the grounds.  Masks can be provided free of charge at the Souvenir booth.

As we get closer to the October fair, we will follow and implement any updated mask guidance or any other changes recommended by the CDC and/or local agencies.  Watch here for updates.
