Volunteer Opportunities

AMBASSADORS:
AOTS Ambassadors are available to mingle through our guests, assisting them with any questions they may have regarding the show, and also taking a small survey of our guests. This position requires walking.
CHILDREN’S GARDEN:
AOTS’ Children’s Garden provides our young guests to have a hands-on experience with art. Our volunteers in the Children’s Garden help assist with make-it/take-it crafts, face painting, and basic assistance to our young guests. Volunteers in this area do NOT need to have any artistic talents, just an appreciation for our young guests.
DETAIL PATROL:
AOTS’ venue is always so beautiful, from the flowers to the Illinois Art Walk. This doesn’t happen overnight, BUT ALMOST. Starting on the Thursday before our show until the start of our show on Friday evening, our detail patrol is hard at work placing flowers, skirting tables, helping artists with signage and generally fine tuning all of those small details that make such a HUGE impact. Volunteers for detail patrol need to be available during the day on Thursday or Friday before the show.
GROUNDS & LOGISTICS:
Be a roadie for one of the top art shows in the nation (without leaving home). G & L provides the structure beneath the beauty of the art show. Many of the responsibilities require some level of physical activity, but not all. G & L is responsible for setting up tents, distributing tables and chairs, hanging banners and other related tasks. And of course, what goes up must come down.
FOOD COURT:
AOTS’ food court is probably one of our busiest venues, besides the artists’ booths. Volunteers help to maintain the cleanliness and appeal of the food court by providing assistance to guests looking for a place to relax and making sure it is a clean, welcoming place to visit.
HOSPITALITY:
The hospitality to our artists is of extreme importance to AOTS. Volunteers help to provide meals, snacks, water and assistance to artists throughout the show. As volunteers in hospitality, your job is to make sure the artists are completely satisfied and need for nothing. This position does requires some stamina, a positive attitude and a great smile.
SOUVENIR BOOTH:
Volunteers of the souvenir booth will be helping AOTS guests to remember their time at our show. Volunteers will help by setting up this location, keeping inventory stocked and operating this site. This position is out of the sun and is a sitting position.
WINE COURT:
MUST BE 21 YEARS OR OLDER. Volunteers of the wine court provide beverages of an alcoholic nature to our guests for a fee. This area should also be kept clean and inviting by our volunteers. This requires standing and some mathematic skills.
